A party, under the stars with food, wine and soothing music, sounds the perfect way to unwind. This party is a special one which offers you an opportunity to witness more than 100 shooting stars in an hour's time. We are talking about Geminids- one of the most spectacular meteor showers of the year.
Geminids got their name after the constellation Gemini. The first Geminid meteors suddenly appeared in the mid-1800's. Those early showers were unimpressive, boasting a mere 10-20 shooting stars per hour. Since then, however, the Geminids have grown in intensity until today it is one of the most spectacular annual showers. One may observe up to 120 meteors per hour this time in clear dark night sky.
Geminds can be observed from a dark site in the outskirts of Delhi, however, if you go a little northwards, say Himachal or Uttarakhand, the view for sure would be much better. On December 13, we take you to a height of 8500 feet at Narkanda, Himachal Pradesh and make you admire the brilliance of shooting stars and fireballs.
Needless to say that this night out with the stars will be a memorable trip of your lifetime.
